Merry Christmas Mine Dumpling Loves!
Thanks to everyone who squished in a print purchase in time for Christmas, it was so lovely to see the sales come in. I'm excited to be adding more to the shop next year along with some other bits too.
I'm really grateful so many of you attended this website, what a buzz!
Now we slope away for some festive stupor.
I hope you have a lovely time.
I will be partaking of too many of the best ever crisps (I promise you, you have to try them) washed down with Snowballs; I make mine with tonic instead of lemonade - much more delicious.
Princess Maggie has some special food which she will either totally ignore or gobble and throw up on the doormat, she's a complex woman and I wouldn't have her any other way.
See you next year!
I've made A3 posters of these collages, available in the shop now!
I love my flashing women. Underneath those voluminous skirts they're both blowing raspberries, just FYI.
I don't want to say much more about them, apart from that I made them at a similar time to my NO collages and they have a similar energy. I wanted to make posters of them so more people could enjoy a bit of that energy in their home.
You can pin them up or they would also look nice in these frames; I'm thinking one each side of your bed would be great.
This summer just gone I packed up my day bag and made a trip down to St Ives where I had a proper art geek treat in store for me.
Such high level geekery required the correct attire, socks and sandals just felt right.
The big treat was that Gemma at Tate let me in to Barbara Hepworth's studio for a snoop around. To get all close up to the hardworking things in there and catch a vibe for expanding the mug design a little (more news on that another time).
It was magic to get amongst all the hard working things and feel the special aura of such an amazing woman through the place she worked.
The tools felt like artworks in themselves, such satisfying shapes that corresponded to the beautiful shapes of the sculptures, maquettes and inspirational objects around the place.
I spent a good amount of time just poking about taking it all in
And then I got to spend a little time in the sun in her garden making some preliminary snips and sketches. Perfect.
Doing collage for all this time I've got pretty good at cutting up books but sometimes, out of the blue, I just don't manage.
This morning I was unexpectedly seduced by Inside Churches. I don't know why it pleases me quite so much to know the names for obscure cruciforms but it does, Inside Churches is a keeper for sure.
I want to share just a few of the best pages with you
First up crosses. Milrine, Fleuree, Barbee, Crenelee.
Please, choose your favourite and name your hipster coffee shop after it. Or indeed hipster baby.
For me: Bezant.
In case you're ever at a loss for conversation on your next date or whatever I think what's your favourite type of column? Is one of the most exciting questions a person can ask.
If your date answers Doric I'd say they're pretty chic, probably marriage material.
If they say Ionic I'd say, they're a fun, outgoing person. Prepare to party.
If they answer composite they are 100% an awful psychopath. Get out of there.
This Little Furniture Stack collage is now available as a print!
When I came to photograph it it sat perfectly in my house, stacks of things and domesticity everywhere.
Here it is on top of the piano with all the books and a piece of charmingly painted bark.
And in the studio with all the detritus including some of my sons influence - a bean bag and at the right a game that involves a target and pins
You can buy the print, framed or unframed, in the shop now.
